Guide - How to upgrade airsoft/softgun?

Do you want to boost your AEG? More power, longer range, faster rate of fire and better precision? Yes, please!

NOTE: Opening/Modifying internal components such as the Gearbox will void the warranty/right to claim.

The fastest and easiest the upgrades

Precision barrel

Normally rifles have a barrel with a diameter of 6.03mm - 6.05mm. So here you can upgrade to a precision barrel which usually has a diameter of 6.01mm. That is approximately the size of the BB bullet. This causes more of the airflow to go behind the bullet instead of around it. It will therefore shoot the BB bullet out with a slightly higher exit velocity and the bullet should also initially go more precisely!

Hop-up Rubber

Hop-up rubber has a lot to do with how far the bullet travels and how consistently the rifle shoots, it can optimally double the range of the bullets! There are many different types of hop-up rubber. Here brands like Maple Leaf, Prometheis and Novritsch are some of the best you can find on the market right now!

"Soft" hop-up rubber is intended for AEGs between 250-400 fps, while "hard" hop-up rubber is primarily intended for muzzle velocity above 400 fps.

It is time to replace the hop-up rubber if you notice that your rifle has lost power. This may indicate that the hop-up rubber is not tight (air leakage). You should also replace it if you notice that the hop-up does not "bite" the bullet and lift it up, no matter how high you set the hop-up. A The rule of thumb for good precision is to replace the hop-up after approx. 15,000 shots. You can extend the service life considerably by using silicone oil. We recommend Ultrair Silicone Spray. Note after lubrication It will take around 200-500 shots before the hop-up rubber has stabilized again and you get optimal range.

Spring

Many AEG rifles today are built to be able to take stronger springs straight out of the box! This applies to most of the rifles we carry from, among others, the ASG Scorpion EVO series, as well as Specna Arms, which have gearboxes that can handle up to M135 springs straight out of the box. The easiest rifles to change springs on are usually marketed with "Spring Quick Change". Note. It is important that you do not install springs that are stronger than what the gearbox/mechanism is designed for, if you are unsure - send us an email with the model name and which spring you are thinking of upgrading to. post@game-on.no.

Battery

If you change to a more powerful spring, it may also be appropriate to use a new and more powerful battery. We recommend a 7.4v Li-Po battery for anything below 400 fps muzzle velocity. Above 400 fps we recommend an 11.1v battery. This means that you still have a fast rate of fire, despite the more powerful spring. Note: You must not use an 11.1v battery on rifles with a lower muzzle velocity than 350 fps, as this can cause the rate of fire to be so high that the motor is damaged.

More difficult upgrades you can do yourself

Replacing (parts of) the gearbox

It is possible to upgrade to stronger parts, f.eks Titanium gears, which allows the gearbox to handle stronger springs/batteries, which in turn results in higher output speed and rate of fire.

Note: This is considered the most difficult upgrade to do. We only recommend that those with good technical knowledge attempt this. Remember that if you do this yourself, the warranty and warranty rights will be void. Would you like us to upgrade your gearbox for you? Send us a non-binding email with which parts you would like to have installed and which model it concerns - and we will get a price estimate back.

Good luck with the upgrades and Game-On!
