Different types of air weapons - Air rifles

There are many different types of air rifles. In this guide we will go over the differences between air/pcp, electric, pump, spring, nitro piston/vortex and Co2 powered air rifles.

Electric

Experience a new dimension in the sport with our innovative electric air rifles! Our collection of tactical air rifles gives you unparalleled power powered by electricity, and you can say goodbye to the effort of cocking the barrel or the hassle of filling PCP tanks. With a simple charge of the lipo battery at home, you are ready to shoot. These air rifles are designed for fun plinking. See all our electric air rifles here.

Air/PCP

Air/PCP-powered air rifles are air guns that use compressed air as a driving force. These guns are usually very powerful and precise. Most PCP air guns have a magazine capacity. PCP guns are for those who want high magazine capacity, maximum precision and well-balanced power. As a rule, you can expect between 40 and 140 shots per filling, this varies between models. The air pressure must be pumped up either by using suitable hand pumps or compressors. Such devices can be found here: PCP Pumps/Compressors See all air/PCP powered air rifles here.

Pump-action rifle

Pump action rifles use an integrated pump mechanism. These weapons are precise and durable. They are inexpensive to operate and very easy to use. You pump up the weapon with a charging arm that is attached to the weapon. Usually 3-5 pumps are enough. Then you only need bullets as accessories to be able to shoot. See all pump shotguns here.

Spring-driven

Spring-operated airguns are the good old classics where you break down the barrel (in some cases a charging arm), put in a bullet, break the barrel back up and you're ready to shoot. Affordable, durable and very cheap to operate. See all our spring-powered air rifles here.

Nitro Piston/Vortex

What is a nitro piston? These air guns are the same principle as regular spring-operated guns. You break down the barrel, put in a bullet and break the barrel back up. What distinguishes these from spring-operated guns is that they use a gas piston instead of a spring. This makes them easier to break, more powerful, quieter and more durable. When you break down the barrel, the gas in the cylinder is compressed, when you pull the trigger the gas returns to its original shape and this creates great force. The cylinder is sealed and there is no need to refill with gas. See all our Nitro Piston/Vortex air rifles here.

Co2-powered

Co2 powered airguns use liquid Co2 gas to propel the bullet forward. In this category you will find everything from semi-automatic to bolt action and full-auto weapons. Co2 powered airguns use either 12g Co2 cartridge or 88g Co2 cartridge. Co2 guns require more maintenance than regular rifles, we recommend silicone oil for lubrication as Co2 guns use silicone gaskets to keep the gun tight. Lubricate the gun regularly and use cleaning cartridges that you can find. here! Remember not to leave the Co2 cartridge standing for too long, as the pressure in the cartridge increases and can damage the weapon. See all our Co2-powered air rifles here.
