Paintball has become a popular hobby around the world and especially in Norway! The balls used in the game are made of different paint colors and the content is made of biomaterials that should be able to dissolve in nature and come off clothes easily. The balls therefore have a shelf life and it is therefore important to know how to store them. so that the paintball balls last as long as possible.
How to store paintball balls?
We recommend that you store them dry at room temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius in a room with little light. In addition, we recommend that you turn the package regularly. Improper storage will reduce the shelf life.
How long do paintballs last?
There are different types of paintballs with different contents and they come from different factories. Therefore, their shelf life will vary, but most I agree that regardless of content (as long as it is made of biomaterials) and brand, if stored correctly the shelf life will be around 6 months. a year.
Influencing factors
In general, the balls will last for about 6 months, but sometimes shorter and sometimes longer. For example, if you can see when they were manufactured, if it is over a year ago, the likelihood that they have expired increases and the quality decreases. Have the balls been exposed to sunlight? Have you dropped them on the ground? Forgot to rotate the package when storing them? Have they been exposed to low or high temperatures? All of these factors can affect the durability of the balls.
What happens to the bullets when they have expired?
You can of course still use them, but we don't recommend it as it can affect your game. Over time, the balls can become deformed, expand or get dents in them. This can cause them to get stuck in the barrel of the marker and you will end up having to clean the barrel in the middle of the game! Some balls can harden and not crack at all, while others can become very brittle. If the ball doesn't crack when you shoot, the shot won't count and your opponent is still in the game.
Price and quality
There is no direct link between price and the durability of the balls, but a more expensive rental ball will last somewhat longer than the cheapest one. What has the most to say is how you store and store them. Price has more to do with quality, expensive bullets have had a longer time in production to get them as round as possible and will therefore shoot better. But note that there is a difference in the fragility of bullets regardless of price, so if you have a mechanical marker that is hard on the ball, the most expensive bullets will be too fragile.
